Made in the West Valley: Your Guide to Supporting Locally Made Products

This holiday season, consider giving more than just a gift; give back to the community by buying products made right here in the West Valley! From sweet treats to pampering essentials, there’s so much to take advantage of.

Here’s your guide to supporting products made in the West Valley this holiday season:

Nothing says the holidays more than sweet treats and the West Valley doesn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for something natural, check out
Absolutely Delightful. A family-operated business for almost 15 years, they are dedicated to bringing you the best raw honey and supporting local Arizona beekeepers in the process. If you’re more of a chocolate fan (who isn’t?), Fairytale Brownies has Christmas and holiday collections that are guaranteed to make your mouth water. Started by two local childhood friends, this business is also in the process of bringing customers a new look that’s just as fun as its yummy product.

For some sweetness with a little kick, pick up a jar of habanero marmalade this season from the Satiabilady. A labor of love from the heart of this local food designer, her collection of all-natural marmalades emphasizes a passion for food and community that she’s held since the age of twelve. Finally, for a treat that is uniquely Arizona, the Cactus Candy Company cannot be beat. Their products are made using only real fruit from locally-grown prickly pear cacti and represent a commitment to its customers that Amelio C. Enterprises has held since 1996.

No holiday meal is complete without the right spices; luckily, the West Valley has you covered with great local business like Slavo Salt. Whether you’re a novice or expert foodie, you will love their selection of homemade artisan seasonings that go good on everything from steak to popcorn (they even have recipes on their site!).

For a holiday with some heat, this area also boasts two awesome hot sauce shops: Homeboy’s Hot Sauce and Big Red’s. Homeboy’s sauces are gluten-free and vegan-friendly, so everyone can enjoy them, and Big Red’s award-winning selection is known as the “hot sauce you put on your hot sauce.” No matter what flavor you’re going for, you will find that perfect finishing touch at these spots.

There is certainly no shortage of interesting treats in the West Valley that can make wonderful gifts for family and friends. Tea fans will love the aromatic selections at Wisdom Nectar Tea. Their organic products are always fresh, healthy, and delicious, and their commitment to the community and other local businesses is second-to-none. Speaking of healthy and delicious, Peanut Butter Americano is another area business that brings both local and national PB lovers some of the best nut butters around. Inspired by the founder’s trip to Uruguay, they always make jars that are all-natural and charitable.

For those pickle people we all love, Pickled Perfection and Mrs. Klein’s Pickle Co. have perfect presents. It’s no secret why the special brine at Pickled Perfection was a favorite among founder, Dean Lambros’ family and friends; it’s spicy and addictive, proving that these picklers are the real “dill.” With fresh produce picked year-round from local growing fields, Mrs. Klein’s also offers a unique pickle taste that has kept restaurants, shops, and local fans coming back for more since 1945.

Finally, if you or someone you know wants to try a hand at homemade goods, the DIY kits from What Ale’s Ya are fabulous. Full beer, wine, and cheese starter kits, supplies, and top-notch service make this spot a go-to for everyone from newbies to seasoned homebrewers.

Aure Lines + Spaces is a Peoria Etsy shop that creates modern, eco-friendly decor that has been featured on Buzzfeed and in Martha Stewart’s wedding magazine. Custom ornaments and crazy fun pillows will add a great personal touch to any living space. Finally, Southwest Ornaments was started by Brenda Schodt, a Wisconsin native who moved to Arizona in 1980 and fell in love with creating hand-painted ornaments for her friends and family. She and her husband now sell her beautiful creations and local collegiate ornaments online, so be sure to grab one for your tree this year!

The holidays can be stressful, so take time to treat yourself with a present from one of the West Valley’s specialty shops. Sahuaro Lane Custom Designs makes gorgeous necklaces, keychains, beer glasses, and more, all with personalization options that can take the pressure off of you (or make a great early Christmas present to yourself!). With fine, locally-sourced ingredients manufactured into a gentle product line, family-owned Daisy G’s is another business dedicated to helping your skin get what it deserves. Handcrafted soaps, moisturizers, and bath fizzies give you ultimate spa relaxation in the comfort of your own home.

For even more luxury with a mindful edge, Strawberry Hedgehog was created in 2007 by a local woman who had trouble finding quality vegan body products. Her business has been growing ever since and continues to provide customers with soaps, oils, and bodycare items that are as good for your skin as they are for the world. Whatever your holiday de-stressing needs are, the West Valley is here for you.
